Terms and conditions
Terms for SMS text notifications sent by a water agency through WaterNotify.
This program is operated by YJB & Associates LLC, a California limited liability company. A customer messaging program is run under a direct contract with the participating water agency. WaterNotify provides the software and infrastructure; the agency directs what is sent to its own customers. Contact: support@waternotify.com.
1. The program
YJB & Associates LLC, doing business as WaterNotify, provides a system for utility notifications, including emergency alerts such as boil-water advisories, planned outage and repair notices, and service updates, by SMS text message. The water agency responsible for a program is identified during enrollment and in the messages it sends.
We do not send messages on behalf of an organization you do not already have a direct utility relationship with, and we do not use this program for marketing or lead generation.
WaterNotify is currently preparing a controlled founding pilot using phone numbers supplied by district staff. Customer messaging may begin only after the participating agency's enrollment method and consent evidence are documented.
2. Consent and enrollment
Enrollment in text notifications must be voluntary. Consent to receive messages is never a condition of receiving water service, opening an account, or paying a bill. Before a customer program begins, the participating agency must identify the form or other documented method it uses to explain the program and obtain permission. The agency retains that consent evidence; WaterNotify does not provide a resident web sign-up page today. This website is informational and does not enroll anyone. See how SMS enrollment works.
3. Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies with service conditions, typically a small number of messages per month and more during emergencies. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
4. Opt out and help
Reply STOP to cancel at any time; you will receive a single confirmation of your opt-out. Reply HELP for assistance, contact your water agency, or email support@waternotify.com.
5. Supplemental service
This service is supplemental to, and not a replacement for, legally required notification methods used by your water agency. Emergency information is provided on a best-effort basis; always follow official guidance from your water agency and public safety agencies.
6. Privacy and information sharing
Use of the service is subject to our privacy policy. No mobile information, and no text messaging originator opt-in data or consent, is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
7. Changes
These terms may be updated; the current version is always available at this address.
